Bloggers Get a Taste of Asia

taste asia

It’s always good to meet fellow bloggers. Especially when it’s a Blogger Food Fest!

Me, Chel my wife, plus Tiana our daughter (the gate crasher, just kidding) were one of the first 150+ bloggers who registered for this blogger’s-meet-up as organized by Aileen Apolo. Sumptuous food, courtesy of Taste Asia, was the big bonus of the gathering.

10 Things to Stop Saying (also applies to blogs)

My current favorite video blog right now is by The Resident, Lori Harfenist and she has this to say about today’s overly used words over and over and over.

I’ll keep them in mind and sway away from ever using them in my posts. Here goes…

blogging tips, overly used words

iBlog3, I was there half the time

It was unfortunate I missed the second day of iBlog3 (April 14) when the meaty and juicy blogging topics were discussed. But I had to attend to a more important commitment.

Nevertheless, I was able to meet new people and new bloggers on the first day and the topics were not bad, not bad at all. Mostly dealt with blog tips for newbies but still I got useful insights and inspirations nonetheless.

Plus I got my official iBlog3 ID :)

iBlog3

Topic favorites were personal blogging success tips by Noemi, business blogging by Arelle, comic blogging by Jonas, and of course literary blogging by Dean. Pic below.

Me and Dean

I hope the The organizers could have compiled the sessions into podcasts and PDFs. A lot of bloggers who weren’t able to attend, especially in the provinces would be happy with this. I am :).

Anyway, here are a lot of iBlog3 pictures that I googled taken by Chris Haravata. It occured to me just now that I also missed his talk. Tsk!

Lifestrips

My friend, the Yamster and I recently started out a new blog called Lifestrips. We don’t post anything ourselves. It’s all about inspiring tales of everyday people leading fascinating lives by pursuing their passions in life.

As Jenny Lewis song goes, “You Are What You Love,” it’s seducting to read and you learn a thing or two from people who despite challenges are pursuing and living their dreams.

Head over to Lifestrips and if you want to be featured, send an email to lifestrips [at] stripopotamus [dot] com.

Quitoriano’s of the world, unite!

Dave my brother, thought of uniting all Quitoriano’s the Wordpress way. If you’re a Quitoriano, you are entitled to a free blog using whatever_blog_name.quitoriano.org. Just log in here. It’s powered by the beautiful Wordpress MU CMS.

And here’s another wonderful bonus. Get a free email account using whatever_name@quitoriano.org too. It’s powered by GMail.

Bamtastic! is @ media temple

Finally, after a little more than a month, Bamtastic! is up again. We joined the migrating flock of bloggers, designers, and developers to media temple’s grid server. Is it any better? I have no idea. Some say it’s all hype. The 1-click application installation of wordpress proved to be useless though. It’s installing an old version of wordpress for crying out loud.

After kicking myself several times, I mustered up some determination and shook off some lazy dust to install it the old-fashioned manual way. I’m one of those people who don’t delight in such tasks.

Overall, it seems pretty stable. If you are a paranoid hosting client, you get to check media temple’s heartbeat in a flash. From the info I gathered it’s scalable and it’s geared towards making your life easier if you’re maintaining and hosting a roster of websites. They say it’s RoR friendly. Might be the reason why my brother’s dev team went for it.

Anyway, I have no intention in turning this post into a review of media temple. Here’s a guy who does it a lot better. All I’m saying is that all systems are go for Bamtastic! :)
